On September 30, 2019, Russ will be giving a three-and-a-half hour seminar at BICSI's Fall Conference in Las Vegas on “How to Ensure Reliable, High QoE Video-Streaming Applications in LANs.” Here is his abstract:
There is important, new information concerning the issues affecting the performance and reliability of high-speed ICT wireline networks, especially with video-streaming applications. You need to know what can make them not work so well and be able to quickly identify and correct potential IPTV service-affecting problems. Attendees will learn how certain mysterious things can occur to cause malfunctions to critical network circuit operations and even equipment damages. A breakthrough computer networking technology will be discussed as the solution you’ve always wanted, instead of thinking that optical fiber cables are the only way to achieve successful results.
On June 4, 2019, Russ prepared a 2 minute video clip prior to his ELET 4315 class on telecommunications at the University of Houston showing a closeup of the surge protection operation of an INT. You can view it here:https://www.researchgate.net/publication/333669964_June_4_2019_Demo
Russ has again been selected to give a presentation on "Computer Networking Breakthroughs to Improve its Reliability and Your Customer’s QoE" at the ISE EXPO in Fort Worth, TX on September 26, 2019.
The technical facts of many problems affecting telecommunication and computer networks haven’t changed since Russ wrote his first book on the subject in 1982, but the equipment and network applications sure have, along with their solutions. And there’s a whole new generation of engineers, managers, and technicians who aren’t familiar with the past development and history of these networks, but who could benefit greatly from that knowledge. This is especially the case in the local area networking (LAN) environment and the backhaul networks that are being used to provide Wi-Fi and 5G wireless access. The information provided in this seminar should be very helpful to those responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining very cost-effective, reliable, and high-performance computer and telecom networks. This is especially needed in the age of the Internet of Things, as well as understanding that you don’t have to use optical fiber cables to achieve successful results.
